Prospective Member Information
New members will be admitted in the order that their applications are received, based on available openings. At times, there is a waiting list. Progeny Memberships are still open.
The new Operating Procedure 5.4 for applications was amended in November 2024:
5.4 Application for Membership
(a) Applications will begin with the completion of an “expression of interest” initial application delivered to the membership chair and the payment of a nonrefundable $100 application fee.
(b) Active and Junior Member Applicants will complete at least four events, beginning with a sailing event, and including no fewer than two sailing events and two social events each. Progeny, Junior Progeny, and returning member applicants are excused from this requirement.
(c) Within one year of the filing of the initial application, the completed application shall be forwarded by a Voting Membership (Sponsor) to the Membership Chairperson confirming that the applicants have completed all requirements. Active and Junior Member applications shall also be endorsed by three Voting Members. The Board, in its discretion, may extend the one year timeframe.
(d) It is the responsibility of the Sponsor to host the applicant until they become known to a significant fraction of the membership and all Board Members. The Membership Chairperson will present applicant for membership to the Board.
